Villages of hope

Our vision: By the transforming work of Jesus, Village of Hope Uganda orphans will grow into self-sustaining, Godly ethical leaders in their communities and country.

Our self-contained Villages each have loving homes, quality schools, churches, counseling centers, medical clinics and agriculture programs. VOH orphans do not age-out of our villages. They will remain with us until they are healed, educated, and ready for employment or higher education.

  • Bobi Village

Bobi Village is located on 50 acres approximately 30 miles south of Gulu, Uganda and about 1.5 hour’s drive north of Bweyale. Students reside in family-style homes with names such as Peace, Joy, and Freedom – reinforcing each child’s identity and position in Christ. The Village is located on 50 acres and includes a primary (elementary) school, medical clinic, worship center, and counseling center. All staff are Ugandan and most grew up in the region. A small agriculture program (maize, beans, vegetables, coffee, and bananas) helps provide food for consumption and sale. The entire village is solar-powered.

  • Bweyale Village

The first and larger of the two VOH villages, Bweyale Village is located near the Nile River and Murchison Falls National Park, approximately 5 hour’s drive north from the capital city of Kampala. Secondary School and Vocational Education students reside in family-style homes with names such as Love, Faith, and Courage – reinforcing each child’s identity in Christ. The Village is located on 180 acres and includes a secondary school, vocational training center, library/computer center, medical clinic, worship center, and agriculture projects geared toward training and self-sustainability. All staff are Ugandan and most grew up in the region. The entire Village is solar-powered.

    Primary School (Bobi)

Village of Hope Primary School offers a kindergarten (for our staff who lives onsite) and grades P1-P7. As children graduate from primary (elementary) school, they transition from Bobi Village to Bweyale to pursue secondary or vocational education.

  • Comprehensive Secondary School (Bweyale)

VOH Secondary School (high school) offers both a lower secondary academic education (S1-S4) and vocational training. Upon graduation, VOH youth receive academic diplomas along with vocational certificates.

  • Vocational School (Bweyale)

VOH Vocational School offers training in construction, auto mechanics, tailoring, and hair dressing. Our offering will expand to include a formal agriculture program in 2022. More than 87% of vocational school are working and helping to support themselves and their younger siblings.

  • Agriculture

A portion of our acreage at both Villages is dedicated to cultivation and animal husbandry. The purpose is to meet a portion of the food and firewood demands of VOH children in the Villages, to offer agriculture training for our students and to create a revenue stream for operations. A corn mill operates to fulfill Village needs as well as to offer honest-value milling services to local farmers for a fee. Additionally, a commercial piggery, an apiary, and a goat project operate onsite. A student-led poultry project will launch when schools fully reopen after the pandemic restrictions are lifted.
