Linda’s Story

Linda joined our Primary 5 class in 2012. Before coming to Village of Hope, Linda had lost both her father and her mother by the age of 8 and was living with her uncle. She felt hopeless and could not afford to go to school.

To make ends meet, Linda helped in any way that she could. Despite working so many jobs (from fetching water and washing clothes to babysitting and selling fruit), nothing was enough. She moved from house to house without a responsible relative to care for her.

Then, God led her to Village of Hope. "Through them, all my needs were met. I will never forget the deep joy I felt deep in my heart on that day,” recalls Linda. "I became so determined to utilize the opportunity God had given to me so I prayed hard and didn’t forget where I came from. VOH has been my life; I am who I am today because of the foundation they laid for me.”

Linda performed better than any other Senior 6 student in all of Northern Uganda on her national exams. She credits her achievement to the teamwork from teachers, house moms, friends, Mama Rose, Mama Cindy, pastors, guardians, doctors, nurses, counselors, sponsors, and above all, God.

Not only that but also Village of Hope Uganda has restored love, joy ,hope, and peace in my life and family. Looking at the past history of war where I went through terrible moments in life at my early age which made me to look down on my destiny. I thank God that through Village of Hope Uganda, my lovely Mama Cindy , Mama Rose, and all the precious staff of Village of Hope Uganda, truly I have found joy, love, and peace  in my heart; I have learned to forgive in my life and it has built me to become a young man who teaches the word of God through the inspiration from Village of Hope. Truly my life is a living testimony.
