They Need a Library

We want to give our children every opportunity to develop and grow in every area of their lives. One of those is reading. In my family, we didn’t grow up reading; therefore, I’m not much of a reader today. I think I missed out on so many things I could have learned through books. I don’t want our kids to miss out on those opportunities.

Therefore, we want to BUILD A LIBRARY to open the world of reading to our children. We want them to LOVE reading. It will help them develop their cognitive abilities, vocabulary, empathy, curiosity, creativity/imagination, concentration and more. Children who love reading perform better in school overall. Children who read a lot for pleasure get higher test scores. A child who loves to read has a real advantage in school. Children who miss the opportunity of getting in touch with books at an early age find it difficult to acquire reading habits later.

Ideally, a child grows up in a home where their parents begin reading to them at an early age, but what happens when a child loses their parents? What happens if no one in their household reads or writes?

Village of Hope children deserve the best education and opportunities we can give them so when they finish school; they can not only be self-sustaining, but become Godly ethical leaders in their communities and country. VOH children read in the classroom, but there isn’t enough room in their homes for books or a quiet place to read them.

THEY NEED A LIBRARY! Would you help us build one for them at the Bobi Village? Together we can fill it with books, adventures, skills and so much more so they will be far away from all the trauma they’ve experienced in their past and introduce them to a new and bright future. They can also read about their heroes of the faith, help them learn to live out their Christian faith in a deeper way, and so much more.

We are so thrilled that we received a grant for the first $10,500 we need for construction, but we still need $35,000 more to complete construction, add solar power, build furniture (desks, chairs & bookcases), and buy books to fill it. Will you pray about making a gift today?

  • $8,000 completes construction

  • $7,500 provides solar lights and power

  • $100 purchases 20 books

  • $75 builds a table and 8 chairs

  • $50 supplies a section of bookcases
