Home > IDP Camps > Huts Burn in Gulu

On Sunday, February 18, over 304 huts were burned to the ground in Gulu. Children and widows live in refugee camps that scatter across the Northern part of Uganda. Each camp holds between 6,000-8,000 displaced people.

Over 1,600 women and children are now without homes due to the fire that started accidentally. Due to the close proximity of huts, if one catches on fire, it will easily spread to the surrounding huts.

They have lost their homes, the little belongs they possessed and many lost the money they were saving to pay for their children’s school fees.
